If you've been reading this site for a medium-long time or longer, you'll no doubt remember friend-o'-TOP Peter Turnley, the globetrotting former photojournalist. He's still very active, shooting daily, teaching workshops in Paris, Havana, Venice, and New York, and still true to his youthful ambition to create fine signed prints like his famous mentors and heroes. He used to have print sales on this site—some of you might already own a Peter Turnley original—but now he does his holiday sales on his own. For this holiday season there are 45 pictures offered as prints. Many of them you might recognize, but there are a lot of new ones as well, some of which have a touch of whimsy that I like—check out the one of the little doggie and the one of the woman drinking tea in the giant hat (above left—which I really like, by the way. Peter might ponder a late-life new career as a fashion photographer).

In print #154, 2022, with the pretty woman reflected in a window, you can also see Peter’s reflection. Interestingly, he’s shooting this vertical portrait in landscape mode. Even the best photographers crop.

So many of those places I'm so familiar with... Always fascinating to look at the familiar through the eyes of someone else.

Wonderful photographs by Turnley. While each will have his or her own favorites, I thought ##1, 8, 15, 144, & 178 are particularly evocative.
All but one from the '80s and '90s. How the world - even Paris - has changed.
