Mike, I appreciate the thought and your focus on the purpose of the holidy, leaving its checkered history aside, but couldn't you have found a Norman Rockwell to make your point? Wyeth brings so much more to the table, such as https://doubtfulsea.files.wordpress.com/2015/04/1911_ncwyeth_treasureisland.jpg
or this one

The illustration that you chose is really over-the-top.
[I have very few choices. The days of bloggers being able to republish anything they find on the Web are over. Besides, I don't think pirates really fit the whole pilgrims 'n' turkeys thing. :-) --Mike]

Californians are thankful for Thanksgiving rain. It may put an end to our fire season. I'm thankful for the camera-phones that put the phun back back into my photography

I like this diverse cartoon drawn during reconstruction, when there was still hope in the air....

I don't know much about N.C., but his kid was weird.
