After mentioning the Lodima Press Weston Anniversary Portfolio I bought myself as a Christmas present, I got a nice little note from Michael A. Smith this morning:
"Paula and I have been so busy that we have neglected TOP. Today we received a number of orders because of Mike Johnston's announcement. Although the time is over for the the pre-publication price for the book of Edward Weston’s Fiftieth Anniversary Portfolio, which we have reproduced as closely as possible to a facsimile version of the original portfolio, we will keep the offer open through the end of this year. The only place we are announcing this is on TOP. The book is available at www.lodima.org. Recently, the server of our web site was changed, and as a consequence, few of the 58 titles we have published are up. When we get all of the books up we will make a special offer exclusively to TOP subscribers."
So that's something to look forward to. I also mentioned the other day that we will be offering two more absolutely top-flight books from Yale University Press in the New Year as well, for really low prices.
I'll pass along whatever Michael has in mind as soon as he lets me know.
Mike

In lieu of actually collecting prints of the great photographers...a pastime few of us could ever afford, fine art books are an excellent alternative. Mike, on this website continues to point the way.

Why do I know I am about to hate, passionately, being poor again?

I received my regular edition (no slipcase) yesterday. It is a beautiful book. James Enyeart's essay is a nice addition that adds context.
