Our old friend Jim Hughes writes to mention that we published a photograph the other day by his old friend Dennis Stock without proper attribution. Here's a better one:
James Dean with a Rolleiflex, by Dennis Stock
Jim tells me that the snow where he lives (Maine) has been incredible this year. By way of proof he included this photo he took at the beginning of this month in a hospital waiting room:
Dennis Stock, who died in 2010, took one of the best photos of Dean. (By the way, that show that's announced at that link? Took place two years ago.)
Mike
(Thanks to Jim)
Jim Hughes adds: "Robert Pattinson plays Dennis Stock on assignment for Life magazine to photograph James Dean, played by Dane DeHaan, while on an extended cross-country road trip in a Hollywood take on reality for the movie, also titled Life, which recently premiered in Berlin. Here's a review from Variety.
"I have not seen the film. I can only hope I recognize Dennis, whom I knew to be an engaging, intelligent and outspoken person—and a very good photographer to boot."

I could be wrong, but it looks like Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. You can see the building entrance columns out the window. We've had lots of snow this year. It's just kept piling up with no periods of thaw. Skiing has been terrific.
