September's TOP Print Offer is the first time we've been able to offer platinum/palladium (Pt/Pd) prints in four years. The 2014 TOP Pt/Pd Print Offer includes two exceptionally beautiful pictures:
United African American Baptist Church, Iron Gate, Virginia, 2002
Dawn, Shepaug River at Steep Rock, Washington, Connecticut, 1996
For ordering convenience we're abbreviating the names to "Church" and "Steep Rock." As always, our sale is open for five days only, during which time we take orders to be fulfilled after the sale closes.
We’ve chosen these two pictures quite simply because Carl thinks they are among the best he's ever made in the 8x10-inch format—and he's been working with an 8x10 Deardorff since 1981.
The prints are hand-coated platinum/palladium on Arches Platine paper. The picture size is 10 inches wide (a slight enlargement from the 7.5x9.5 image area of the original negatives) and the sheet is trimmed 11x14. The prints are made from digital internegatives.
The price is $230 for one, $420 for both, plus $25 shipping/handling to anywhere. CT and NY residents please include applicable sales tax.
In the next few days we'll post technical notes by Carl about making the pictures, creating the digital negatives, and producing the prints.
OPTIONS
Church: $255 (that's $230 + $25 S&H)
Steep Rock: $255 (ditto)
Two prints: $445 (that's $40 off + $25 S&H)
(If you want more than two prints, please contact Carl.)
ORDERING
[Note: Sale ended at 7 p.m. 9/15/14]
To order, please just send Carl an email at [email protected] with the subject line:
TOP Platinum
(Without the proper subject line, your email will not get to the right inbox, so don't forget!)
In the email, tell him:
1. What you want
2. How much money you're sending
3. How you'll be paying
4. Where you want your prints sent.
Your email constitutes your order.
PAYMENT
Payment can be PayPal or mailed check. Carl's email address above is also his PayPal ID for payment. If sending a check, mail to:
Carl Weese
TOP Platinum
Box 673
Woodbury CT 06798
Even if you use PayPal, it’s the email with the "TOP Platinum" subject line that constitutes your order.
We’ll be using Priority Mail. Making Pt/Pd prints is exacting and time-consuming work, but we'll keep purchasers updated on the progress of the shipments here on TOP.
Hope you like this month's exceptional print offer as much as we do! We're going to have a lot of supporting material about these prints in the next few days, which I think will be interesting even for people who aren't purchasing prints. Some of the supporting writings, on the other hand, will be aimed at people who want to try this themselves.

Featured Comments from:
Martin Doonan: "Having bought the previous prints, it looks to me that the small jpegs here do a pretty good job of representing the subtle tones and contrast that Carl brings to his picture making. However, the fine details and lovely colouration of Pt/Pd prints need to be seen to be properly appreciated."
