I need just a little extra time to answer my email. All I need is one extra day every day. Too much to ask?

Important thoughts from One Who Has Seen Too Many Emails and related...
1. The whole point of email is that you can deal with it asynchronously. There is no prize for dealing with it all at once.
2. By all means seize the day - but sometimes that means to seize it by the scruff of the neck and then proceed to - lolligag, nap, wander, relax, fiddle about, whatever. Because there is no prize by your deathbed for having the greatest number of focused and driven days. There are prizes in life for this, but not at the end.
3. Sometimes we waste time, and think "I should be doing X" but the reality is that we are resting in some way. And so often the alternative to watching TV or surfing the web is NOT building furniture for the local orphanage in your basement. It's staring out the window or reading cheap novels or playing solitare. Of course, sometimes the alternative is, in fact, doing something much better.

"music during our formative years had achieved a cultural prominence it hadn't had before and hasn't had since. "
Um, I'll go out on a limb here and say that this little statement is way off. Other things may have gained a foothold in our cultural experience. But music was dominant for me (I'm a bit younger than you) and is so for each of my kids, who are ten years apart in age.
I'm not sure what you were trying to emphasize.

A wise man once told me, "If you can't get all your work done in 24 hours a day, you must work nights."

Mike,
As one of those people who've sent you email you haven't replied to yet, I want you to know it's OK. I totally understand your situation and would hate it if we put too much pressure on you. I'm just incredibly grateful for TOP, even if I'm a very silent lurker most of the time. Take care!
