In that iPhone 5 spoof video I posted yesterday, at about thirty seconds in, the narrator says "...and the inclusion of a fifty-millimeter macro lens...." And every time I watch it, my brain quietly supplies the line: "that's not a macro lens."
It's like trying to not think of an elephant.

Perhaps he means that 50mm is the shortest focusing distance.

50/3.5 Zuiko for OM.
Superb at 1:2, quite good at 1:1
OM, now OM-D Moose

Hiya!

Possibly another clue... :-)

I've got the old Canon FD 50mm f/3.5 macro, goes down to 1:1. The video reminded me of it, idly sitting in the closet.

Don't try to resist the reality distortion field.
If Apple says its a 50 mm macro lens then its a 50 mm macro lens!

Bruce

Not only did I think "hey, that's not a the fifty macro," I also continued with "wait, was that on purpose?"

Superb macro lens. Clearly apple just got an all-black-edition (and an all-white-one too...)

Haha, that is *exactly* what I thought too. In fact, it is not even a good 50mm lens, IMO. Slow focusing, terrible boke quite often, etc. etc. I presume the L is better, if you can get a good copy, which apparently isn't easy. Personally, I prefer Nikon and Zeiss lenses, and have both the Planar and Makro-Planar 50s, as well as a Sigmalux and an old Contax 50/1.7 with Leitax mount. One day I will add the Leica 50/1.4 Summilux-R E60... but not for quite a while.

Possibly, iPhone 5 would come with slightly smaller than Full Frame sensor ;-) Anyhow, my favorite macro lens is Panasonic-Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm F2.8.

Ramsesoriginal,
I think the lens in the video is this one--
