If you just go out into the world, you encounter
strange and wonderful things.
—Carl Weese
Old friend and former TOP contributor Carl Weese is on one of his epic photographing perambulations again, documenting more drive-in theaters, and this trip is taking him around Lake Michigan. He was in Door County today and is headed for the Dells tomorrow. Hopefully I'll see him on Tuesday, and if I can go a-shooting with him I'll try to post a snap with him in it—as opposed to the Carl-less setup shots with the view cameras alone that you see on Working Pictures.
He says he's having a charmed trip so far, with everything working out well. I liked the story (at the link) about the motel in Traverse City.

Abandoned or nearly abandoned Drive Ins are one of my favorite subject matters as well. Here in Canada it is hard to find them as most have been plowed under to make room for parking lots and mega malls. Here is a link to one DI I photographed last year, I call it The Last Picture Show in honour of the movie of the same name. http://ericrose.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=72&Itemid=75&lang=en

@ Michael, thanks for the reminder about Kenosha. I almost missed it on my marked up map. I may try to got there after Jefferson, WI, tomorrow. The problem is getting out of there--have to go straight through Chicago to get back east.
