A couple more goodies from the archives:
Ten Great Photographs: We're up to Number 7 now. This one concerns photojournalism, and, coincidentally, one of the responses to its original appearance inspired my B&WP column "In Praise of Captions" that I republished here just the other day.
And, speaking of context...here's the post that put TOP on the map. It dropkicked our traffic count from four figures to five, and has been linked to more often than anything else I've ever written on the web.
It was also a complete toss-off, so "light" I very nearly didn't even publish it. When it got so much attention, I thought, "Well, this blogging stuff is easy. All I have to do is more like this." And of course I never could do another one like it.
And just so one and all understand, it's satire, and I wrote all the captions. It's not real.

TOP's maƮtre d' has unplugged the computer, in a perhaps futile attempt to force himself to deal with the real world for a week. Links to archive items are being posted automatically every morning at 7 a.m. Central Time.
