Normally I like thunderstorms. We just had a doozy pass through here. The thunder was right on top of us—no time lapse between the lightning and the (very loud) thunderclaps.
It must have caused some problems once it got to Milwaukee, though, because a few minutes after the rain stopped I lost the internet...and today's post. I guess it happens to everybody every now and then. The funny thing was, I saved the post before I closed it. The save just didn't work, is all.
Oh well. Fotrunately I can reconstruct the post (it's a camera review by TOP's Croatian Editor-at-Large, Vlatko Juric-Kokic).
Should be easier to do the second time, though. I don't have any more time today, but it will be along on Thursday or Friday.
One of my friend and former studio partner Paul Kennedy's favorite sayings was, "You know what they say: Oh well." I can often hear him saying it, in my mind's ear.
Mike
Annoying, but sometimes the odds just stack up against you, even when you try to do the right thing (you really thought you'd gotten a save through).

I don't like thunderstorms. Last July we lost our favorite tree, a 50-60' Subalpine Fir, right next to the house, along with most of our electronics, in two lightning strikes twelve days apart. The tree literally exploded.
Insurance helped a little, but we'll have to wait another 75 or 80 years before another tree fills the gap...

Mike,
What software do you use to draft your posts? You probably know this, but just in case: some applications have an autosave feature that you can adjust to save a copy every minute. Very useful.

I wish we had thunderstorms here. I'd gladly trade the chance to photograph them for a blog post or two. But I guess my posts are worth a bit less than TOP's. Final offer: 4 blog posts per thunderstorm. Take it or leave it.

Send those storms down here. We'll take all the overhead booming thunder we can get. The Austin, Texas area is approaching a stage 4 drought. Many rivers are about dry and wildfires are becoming more common. Thankfully we received some rain last night. (and maybe some more today.)

I've learned from losing long posts to compose on Notepad first and then submit it into the blog later.
