Mike:

Sorry about all your troubles! I've added the new URL in my browser and resubscribed to the RSS 2.0.

Let us know if we can we help you out financially with the changes.

Hi Mike,
I think you needed the move a long time ago. Your site is too succesful to rely on a free service.
What I don't like at all is that this new website keeps the url always the same. It doesn't give the url to the post itself. It's a pain to link directly to a post this way, almost as in a flash site.
I suggest you to use Wordpress. It's free, easy to setup and use, very safe, and very W3 standards compatible (very forward compatible).
Regards

Welcome to TypePad. This is a good place to operate, with very good support services, and very rarely does it let you down. Even then, you are always advised of the problems, of pending scheduled maintenance breaks, and the help files, and support systems, work very well. I have been running a few blogs from here, and it is a good, honest service.

And I'm happy that nothing serious has happened to you, as some of us were worried might have. Please keep up the good work.

Glad to see you're back up and running Mike. I think the move away from Blogger was a good choice. I would have recommended WordPress.com over TypePad but that's my own personal bias. :)

Wordpress is definitely the better option.

A few more things I'd like to point out...

Please display the blog on the front page. There's really no reason why the welcome page should be there when people come here (mostly) for the new stuff.

Please allow your (regular) contributors to post under their own username. Just assign them an account with posting privileges, I'm sure there's some way you can have several blog authors in typepad. That way it's much easier to search old post from someone other than yourself. I was trying to find a specific post from ctein a few days ago on the blogger site and eventually gave up. With author search it would be quick and painless.

did a quick search... scroll down to: Inviting Additional Authors

Mike, the problem with "www" is because of the configuration of the server, not a problem of propagation.

I thought that you went out of town for a trip...

Welcome back. Looks like there's a little unpacking and straightening up to do, but everything seems to be falling into place. Not bad for a forced relocation on short notice.

Excellent news, Mike. I hope it is possible to post comments here without having to subscribe to either TypeKey or TypePad, 'cause I have all too many subscriptions already.

Yet, I am looking forward to reading your blog and to posting a comment or two every now and then ;-).

Cheers from sunny Israel.

Boris

Hi Mike,
I've been reading your blog for some time now from Thailand. For the last week or more your blog was totally blocked here. I tried over and over to get it but could not. In fact it looked like all blogspot accounts were blocked as I tried many others and they also were 'out'. Eventually I was able to use a proxy to get to your site and read up til the moon post. After that I didn't get any new updates showing up. And now I know why. I'm very happy that you have made the move to your own 'real' blog. I think it is a good thing. I'm quite experienced with running web servers and have been doing it for years - so if you have any questions feel free to ask me. I'm sure you have many resources available but just in case, since I enjoy your posts, I'd be willing to help out sometimes.

Also saw a request above to have your blog on the main page and I'd second that. I'd prefer to go to the site and see the blog there and not have it buried in a link. I'm sure it will take some time to get everything restructured but I think it will be good in the long run.
